Heartbeat’s Inaugural Morecambe Bay Charity Walk

Members, staff and supporters of Heartbeat NWCC will be taking on the challenge of the Morecambe Bay Walk in August 2016. Heartbeat is North West’s leading cardiac rehabilitation charity, providing services for over 800 people every week. Based in Preston, and working across Lancashire, the charity has supported heart patients and those at risk for over 35 years.

The walk will be taking place on Saturday 13th August 2016, meeting at Arnside Promenade at 1pm, with the Queen’s Official Guide Cedric Robinson leading the walk.

Mark Cassidy, Fundraising Officer for Heartbeat, said: “The walk is a great way to be active, enjoy a great day out and raise money for the charity all in one go. We need to raise £900k per year to keep the charity going and expanding. We currently receive no support from the government, local authority or the NHS so events such as this are vital to continue providing this much needed support” Mark explained what the money raised will go towards. He said: “The money raised will go towards supporting our mission as a charity of reducing the impact of cardiovascular disease in all our communities in the North West through our rehabilitation classes, lifestyle information groups and first aid and CPR training” Jill Rogerson, Heartbeat Chief Executive, said: “It’s great to see so many people signing up and showing their support for Heartbeat. We’re really excited about the event starting up again and we are looking forward to it going from strength to strength in future years”

The walk costs £10 for adults, £5 for children and £1 for dogs. Places are limited so registration prior to the event is required. Contact Mark on 01772 717 147 or mark@heartbeat-nwcc.org.uk to register for the event. To find out more about Heartbeat, visit www.heartbeat-nwcc.org.uk.
