Ambulant adjective – (of a patient) able to walk about; not confined to bed.

The New Year is often a time when people do a health check and decide to get fitter or deal with those physical niggles that have been bothering them for a while.  Although your GP may be your first port of call, for others, getting an appointment to suit and enough time to explain and discuss your symptoms can prove problematic.

Ambulant Physiotherapy Ltd has, since 2005, been providing a range of Physiotherapy treatments to treat an array of symptoms to over 8000 clients from its base on Plungington Road in Fulwood.  In fact, its proving so popular as people become more aware of the benefits of Physiotherapy, they are developing the site to increase the number of treatment rooms available!

But what is physiotherapy and how can it help?  We asked Clinical Director, Martha Richardson to explain more.  ‘Physiotherapy is the treatment of disease, injury or deformity by physical methods such as specific exercises, heat treatment or massage rather than through surgery or with medicines’.

Physiotherapy can be used to aid recovery and improve physical symptoms following surgery but we also treat common ailments such as back pain, tension headaches, neck pain, women’s health problems and neurological conditions such as Parkinsons or MS, as effective Physiotherapy can assist you to maximise your potential.

Through a professional and friendly service, we offer new patients an initial 40-minute consultation with one of our highly experienced, HPC Registered Chartered Physiotherapists.  Our treatments are all about the patient so tailored uniquely to your needs, whether specific exercises, acupuncture, ultrasound or massage.  We work to treat the underlying cause of your problem, not just the symptoms.

To complement your treatment, we also offer other therapies such as: Acupuncture, Cranio-Sacral Therapy, Hot Stone Massages or you might feel you would benefit from Hypnotherapy or Cognitive Behavioural Therapy to make positive changes in your life.  We also offer Pilates classes aimed at all abilities that help you strengthen your core stability.

We are committed to excellence in all areas of service to our patients, offering a professional, friendly one-to-one service which focuses on your individual needs. We open until late Monday to Fridays and also on Saturdays so offer flexibility for appointments to suit you.
